WHAT ARE LADDER TOURNEYS?

These matches are private tournaments reserved only for players in an active Ladder.

HOW IT WORKS?

Once every 2 months, a snapshot of the ladder positions will be taken. Based on your position when the snapshot is taken, you will be playing in the tournaments for that qualifying group. Every 4 teams is a group (A, B1, B2, C1, C2, D1, D2).

Any teams in the social pool can join the social tourney. First come, first served.

MATCH PLAY

Each group will be invited for a tournament (4 teams per group). The tournaments will be played in a Round Robin format, and prizes will be awarded to the winning team.

Your place in the ladder will be updated based on your place in the tournament results.

The tournament must meet the minimum requirements for prizes to be awarded.

COMPETITION BLOCKS

Challenge your competition block to a 2HR Tournament for prizes and a chance to shuffle up the ladder and quickly move up the ranks.

Each season will host a ladder tourney, and tournament wins will add points to your ladder rank for more chance for prizes at the end of the ladder.

    • Each Competition Block will consist of four (4) Teams
    • Teams will play round robin against each other - winning teams move up a court position and losing teams move down a court position
    • The team with the most wins at the end of Round 7 (or after 2HRs) will win the tournament. A Championship Tie Break may be used
    • Only Teams on the Club Ladder will be allowed to enter. Regrets, no subs!
    • Playing in the Ladder Tourney is not mandatory
    • Block winners receive an advantage - they can cash in their Tourney Badge™ to challenge any team on the ladder, or reject any challenge.
    • Prizes will be awarded for each block

BADGES

Block winners receive a special advantage: the Tourney Badge™. This badge gives them the advantage of challenging any team on the ladder or rejecting any incoming challenge.

By cashing in their Tourney Badge™, winners can strategically position themselves for a better ranking by taking on stronger opponents or avoiding difficult matches.

This added flexibility provides a significant edge in climbing the ladder and achieving top positions. Use your Tourney Badge™ wisely to maximise your success!

BADGE FAQs

Ladder Badge Overview

I’ve won a badge, what does this mean?
Holding a tourney badge offers you the ability to challenge any team on the ladder to a ladder match. The match must follow all of the normal ladder rules and be played to a clear winner.

How can I earn a badge?
Tourney badges are awarded to the winning team of each tourney block on the ladder (currently a block consists of 4 teams).

I couldn’t make any tourney dates - is there any other chances to earn a badge?
You are welcome to serve as a backup player on any other ladder tourney - giving you a chance to compete. If you win as a reserve, you will need to play a follow up Badge Match with your original partner to determine which ladder team keeps the badge.

How long does the badge last?

You can retain a badge for the entire season. You can hold multiple badges. A badge expires once you use it, however - so choose wisely.

Badge Match

What is a badge match?
A badge match is a special challenge against another ladder team. Normal ladder match rules apply, except that the match is played first to 3 sets (i.e. 3-0, 3-1 or 3-2). A match that is tied at 2-2 MUST be played as a Championship Tie Break. (Tie break - first to 10pts, win by 2).

How do we add these scores into Playtomic?
For a ladder match, the match must be set as “competitive” and normal scoring applies. For a badge match, the type must be “friendly” and you will only input the three sets of the winning team.

Key Rules

1. The badge MUST be used within the “challenge period” of a ladder challenge. (First 48hrs)
2. You are not required to use the badge if you do not want to.
3. A loss while holding the badge entitles the challenging team to claim it from you.
4. Once you use the badge, it is exhausted.
5. you may hold multiple badges at any given time

Other Ways to Earn a Badge

Is there any other way to earn a badge?
Yes. If you can defeat a team with a badge, you can “steal it”. Conversely, if you lose a match while holding a badge, your opponent can claim it from you.

You must make the decision to use the badge in the challenge phase, as once the challenge progresses to selecting your match date, the badge is up for grabs.
